Estrogen Dominance Symptoms

What is estrogen dominance ?

Before we move on defining estrogen dominance symptoms, we need to know what exactly it is. Estrogen is defined as a vital component in maintaining women's health & well-being. It is main sexual hormone in female's reproductive system that is responsible for changes in libido. Even though estrogen is found both in males & females it is usually found in abundance amongst the latter especially those that are fertile.

Estrogen normalizes the menstrual cycle by elevating and thickening the endometrium. Therefore it is responsible for directly impacting ovaries, breasts, cervix, fallopian tubes and vagina.

There are many symptoms of estrogen dominance that need to be studied before finding out the final cure. Estrogen dominance is defined as an abundance of estrogen in females over the natural progesterone levels. The abnormality may lead to several symptoms. Dr. Lee says that if the level of progesterone falls below that of estrogen, estrogen dominancy symptoms could occur. In other words estrogen and progesterone levels need to be in balance to avoid getting estrogen dominance disease. It is a very common disease found in today's women that can be cured if caught in early stages. The following is a comprehensive list of estrogen dominance symptoms amongst females:

Hormone replacement therapy:

HRT is a medical treatment procedure used for treating estrogen dominance in females. It is a surgical process in which menopausal women get treated via special therapies to get cured from this disease using fertility drugs. More of the times, it is known as treatment, instead of therapy. HRT can also be used to treat infertility amongst females.

Usually low doses of estrogen or progesterone is given to patients to balance their levels, whereas sometimes testosterone may also become a part of it. Creams, tablets, patches, vaginal rings, gels, or injections are the most common ways used during the HRT process. The way of delivering HRT varies from patient to patient depending upon the situation and medical condition of this disease. HRT is not a long term solution as doctors doubt its credibility over maximum 2 years of usage.

HRT does not come without its risks. Based upon studies conducted by Women's Health Initiative of the National Institutes of Health in 2002, it has been stated that those females receiving treatment of hormone deficiency via HRT are at an increased risks of suffering from breast cancer, strokes & heart attacks. These studies were later re-confirmed in another study conducted in the UK referred to as The Million Women Study. As a consequence of these discoveries, there had been a significant drop in the number of females opting for HRT. As a result it was concluded that lowest possible doses of HRT should be taken in the shortest time possible via normal methods instead of surgical ones to avoid increased risks of breast cancer and strokes.

A number of other alternative solutions have also been advised by doctors and health specialists around the world to get cure from this disease. Health experts advise to indulge in physical activities on regular basis. 30 minutes of brisk walking should be a good way to burn unwanted calories. Furthermore, diet changes need to be made to help balance estrogen and progesterone levels. Eating raw veggies and fruits help in getting cure from this disease.
